SHUTTLES, TRANSPORT AND HELP

Shuttles and parking help at Melbourne Airport

How the courtesy bus actually runs, which terminals each Value car park reaches, and who to contact when a barrier will not read your booking.

VALUE CAR PARKS · FREE COURTESY BUS · AIRPORT SAYS EVERY 15 MINUTES, 24 HOURS

Two questions, answered first

Two questions come up more than any others when travellers compare airport parking in Melbourne: how the courtesy bus works, and who to call when parking goes sideways. Short answers first. The Value Car Parks include a free shuttle that the airport says runs 24 hours a day, every 15 minutes, and parking support runs through the airport's parking help centre. The rest of this page covers the practical detail — arrival timing, which terminals each bus reaches, and what to have ready before you ring anyone.

If you have not booked yet, start with the car park comparison; if you have a booking and a question about the gate, jump to the help section below.

How the Value Car Park courtesy bus works

The bus is the access method for both Value sites, and its published frequency is the single most useful number on this page.

  • FREQUENCY

Melbourne Airport says the free bus runs 24 hours a day at 15-minute intervals. Practically, that means up to a quarter-hour wait plus the ride to your terminal.

  • TIMING

The bus is most comfortable when you have given yourself a little room. Add the wait and the ride to your usual airport buffer rather than assuming you will step off the bus at check-in.

  • DROP-OFF

It sets you down at the terminal, and you pick it up again at the designated stop when you return from your trip. Note where that stop is on the way out — it's easier than finding it in the dark with luggage.

  • TYPE

It is a fixed, predictable service rather than an on-demand one. You do not call it, book it separately, or flag it down — you wait at the stop and it arrives on its loop.

Value North versus Value South bus routing

The two Value car parks do not run the same loop, and that difference decides which one suits your flight. Hover or focus each card to turn it over and read the routing note on the reverse.

Value North — the reverse

  • Free courtesy bus serves all terminals, so it suits mixed itineraries and any flight out of T1, T2 or T3.
  • Same published cadence as the other Value site: 24 hours a day, every 15 minutes.
  • Choose this one when different members of the trip fly from different terminals.
  • Read the on-site signage when you arrive — it costs thirty seconds and confirms your stop.

Value South — the reverse

  • Provides courtesy bus transfers to Terminal 4 only, keeping that route short and direct.
  • If you are flying out of T4, this is the site that matches the trip.
  • The shorter loop means fewer stops between the car park and your terminal.
  • Check the sign at the stop rather than assuming a bus will take you onward to T1, T2 or T3.

If you have flown out of T4 but parked at a site whose bus does not serve it, you will find out at the wrong end of your trip. Reading the signage when you arrive settles the question before you leave the car.

Terminal parking has no shuttle at all

Worth stating plainly, because it is the source of most confusion when travellers plan airport parking around a bus that does not exist for their booking.

T123 TERMINAL
Connects to Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via a covered link bridge. Walk it, do not wait for a bus.
T4 TERMINAL
About 100 metres from Terminal 4, which is a short walk rather than a transfer.
COURTESY BUS
Not provided for either terminal car park, and none is needed. The bridge and the walk replace it.

If your booking is a terminal car park, head for the bridge or the terminal entrance. The access detail for each site sits on the terminal parking page.

Getting help when a barrier will not open

Start with the code from your confirmation email, then work outward from there. Most barrier problems at the lane are a pass or a screenshot problem, not a fault.

  1. Open the QR code from your confirmation email. Prebooked access uses that code for entry and exit.

  2. If you stored it in Apple Pay or Google Pay, make sure you are presenting the right pass at the reader. A screenshot from the email works just as well.

  3. If the barrier still will not read it, use the intercom at the lane. Tell them which car park and which lane you are in.

  4. The airport's parking help centre is the other route, and it is the resource the airport directs travellers to for car park and booking enquiries.

What to have ready before you call

Support will ask for a small set of details to find your record. Gathering them first turns a phone call into a two-minute conversation.

  • REFERENCE Your booking reference
  • CONFIRMATION The confirmation email
  • VEHICLE Your vehicle registration, exactly as it appears on the booking
  • DATES Your travel dates — the arrival and the return

Changing dates, not fixing a fault?

Manage my booking in your confirmation email is faster than a call in most cases. Check the amendment window on your booking before you ring.

Where current rates actually live

Melbourne Airport publishes current parking information on its Parking & Transport page, and live rates sit in the online booking flow, where you can compare products in real time. Old blog posts and cached rate tables are the enemy of a good decision.

Where the answers on this page come from

The shuttle cadence, the terminal routing and the walking distances here reflect information Melbourne Airport publishes for its own car parks. Rates move, lots fill, and a booking changes; verify the live number in the booking flow for the date you actually travel.

  • Shuttle frequency and the 24-hour running pattern come from the airport's published Value car park information.

  • Terminal routing for Value North and Value South reflects the airport's own description of which terminals each bus reaches.

  • The covered link bridge at T123 and the short walk to T4 are the airport's stated access routes for those car parks.

  • Contact details shown here are the airport's own listed parking assistance contact, available around the clock.

Common questions

The four questions travellers ask most about shuttles, terminals and getting parking support at Melbourne Airport.

Does the courtesy bus run overnight?

Yes. Melbourne Airport says the Value Car Parks' free shuttle runs 24 hours a day, every 15 minutes. That makes it workable for early-morning departures, provided you allow for the wait plus the ride. Build a little slack into your timing on peak mornings.

Which terminals does the Value shuttle serve?

Value North serves all terminals by courtesy bus. Value South provides transfers to Terminal 4 only. If you are flying from Terminals 1, 2 or 3, choose Value North; if you are flying from T4, Value South keeps the route direct.

Do the terminal car parks have a shuttle?

No. T123 Terminal Car Park connects to Terminals 1, 2 and 3 via a covered link bridge, and T4 Terminal Car Park is about 100 metres from Terminal 4. Both are walking-distance options, so there is no courtesy bus to wait for.

Where do I get help with a parking problem?

Melbourne Airport provides a parking help centre for car park and booking enquiries, and it lists a contact phone number for parking assistance. Have your booking reference, confirmation email, vehicle registration and travel dates ready. Booking changes are usually quicker through manage my booking.

Compare the car parks, then prebook before you drive

The airport emphasises booking online for the best rates, which in practice also means you avoid discovering a full lot at the gate on a busy morning. Current rates and products live in the online booking flow.
